« Sander Germanus’ Capriccio voor genoeg vioolsnaren (Capriccio for enough violin strings, 1999) is a hectic little piece, whose fragments flash by the listener as rapidly as snapshots in a photoalbum. Between these snatches (including an allusion to Paganini’s Capriccio No.24) one keeps hearing noises like the snapping of a string. So the violist’s stock of strings should be suffice to last him or her through the piece. »
